Basketball for Kids in K-12
The CVCO Shooting Stars Basketball program is now accepting registrations for the 2019-2020 season.
The Shooting Stars is a recreational basketball league for grades kindergarten through 12th grade.
There are five divisions: Instructional, Boys, Girls, Middle School and High School.
The Instructional division is for youth in grades kindergarten through 2nd and teaches basketball fundamentals, rules and skills. There are no games in this division. The Instructional division will begin sometime around the first week of January 2019. Anyone interested in coaching in the Instructional division, please contact Brian Vayda at the email below.
- The Boys division has a 3rd/4th grade level and a 5th/6th grade level.
- The Girls division has a 3rd/4th grade level and a 5th/6th grade level.
- The Middle School division is co-ed for grades 7th and 8th.
- The High School division is co-ed for grades 9th through 12th.
A clinic for players new to the league or new to a grade level (3rd/4th and 5th/6th) will be held on Saturday November 16, 2019. This is not a tryout as everyone will be assigned to a team. The clinic is only for the purpose of assigning new players to a team. Girls new to the program or new to a grade level (3rd/4th and 5th/6th) will be from 9:00am to 10:00am and boys new to the program or new to a grade level (3rd/4th and 5th/6th) will be from 11:00am to 12:00pm.
Anyone interested in coaching in the 3rd/4th and 5th/6th grade levels must attend the clinic.
There will not be a clinic for the Instructional program nor the Middle School division nor the High School division.
Coaches must obtain and submit a Criminal History Clearance from the Pennsylvania State Police – (https://epatch.state.pa.us) and must also obtain and submit a Child Abuse History Clearance from the Dept. of Human Services – (https://www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis/public/home)
The 3rd/4th and 5th/6th grade divisions will begin practices sometime after Thanksgiving 2019 and games will begin in early January 2020. Coaches will contact the players with details.
The Middle school and High School divisions are an “open gym” type setting and will begin sometime around the first week of January 2020 and players will be contacted sometime in December 2019.
